Hello, we are Ewald, Steffen and Birgit Sonntag. We are living in a small village named Baindt in Baden-Württemberg.
The area is called "Schussental" and is located in the southern of Germany nearby Ravensburg,
the Lake Constance, Austria and Switzerland.
Our house is surrounded with forests and meadows - a ideal environment for our spirited dogs.
In January 2003 our first "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever" Amik moved into our house. He came from the Kennel "The Dreamworker" from Sandra and Sascha Fock.

Birgit: For me has a dream come true - a red dog! In 1999 I read for the first time about the "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever" and I knew at once: This is the dog I want!! Now began a search for two years: About the breed, how to find the best breeder. We collected information about the Toller and visited several breeders. By change we became 2003 our puppy "Amik" from the Kennel "The Dreamworker" of Sandra and Sascha Fock. Big luck - if you concern, that in Germany 2002 only 18! tollerpuppys were born!
Ewald: In fact I don´t want to have another dog. But after the death of our Yorkeshire Terrier "Basti" was Birgit very sad. And when she came to the Toller she had enough enthusiasm for us both. Today i cannot imagine a life without our red whirlwinds and I am glad, that she infected me with her enthusiasm.
The most fascinated things of Tollers are their effervescent temperament, their work enthusiasm and their intelligence. Indeed, these qualities make it sometimes not easy to train the Toller. It needs a lot of patience and instinct to educate the red whirlwinds. Also you should always think ahead 1 step - because the Toller has a very quick perceptive facility and recognises fast how he can trick his handler. But if you know how to lead the Toller properly, you win a loyal companion who goes with you through thick and thin.
Amik is a real "allrounder" - we trained him at the beginning as a resquedog and we couldn´t imagine something else. Sandra laughs, if she remembers our statement. He passed a qualifying examination as a Mantrailer and when he was an examinated resquedog and we started to train him in Dummy-work as his "hobby". Also here he showed his excellent nose and his enormous will to find. In the Fieldwork he shows his good willingness to work. In december 2006 Amik became a stud dog at the Deutscher Retriever Club e.V. (DRC)
After all the god time which we had with Amik we began to think about a second dog - a bitch it should be this time. Also the thought of the breeding arose over and over again. Then in spring 2007 I got in touch with the Norwegian breeder Gunn-Tove Jensen (Kennel "Adoreas"), because I liked her bitch "Kimba" very well. Again we had luck: From the litter born on the 1st of July, 2007 we got our bitch "Adoreas red Bandida" - Ida.

Amik and Ida were friends from the first moment. Ida is an easy educable, willing to work bitch with a lot of "will to please" It´s a great pleasure to handle this bitch!!
We have followed up the wish to breed: In January, 2008 we got from the F.C.I. the permission to breed under the Kennelname "Red Starbeads" in the DRC (German Retriever Club e.V.) We hope that our Ida fulfils all necessary conditions to the breeding.
If everything goes well, our A litter will be born in 2009/10.
We do not know where us our way leads to - but one is sure: We have found "our" unique dog race in the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Our special thanks is given to Matthäus Gryksa, he enveloped our site authoritative.Without his help this project wouldn´t have been realized so soon - thank you.
We hope you find many informations about this grandiose red dogs!
Now we wish you lots of fun while you explore our Website
